Begonia sutherlandii
Supplied in a 7cm pot
We love this trailing Begonia species which comes from Eastern areas of southern subtropical Africa. Growing from a tuber, this trailing perennial features narrow small leaves on reddish stems and numerous clusters of orange flowers that appear throughout summer. Requires very well drained, gritty compost, with the tubers approximately 4 cm below the surface. Start off in late march in a warm greenhouse in pots. Can be planted out in summer on the edge of raised beds, tall planters and pots. Needs light shade and is sensitive to sub 5℃. Store tubers dry over winter.
Light shade
Well drained but moist soil
RHS hardiness rating H2
Plants are supplied in a 7cm pot, with their compost and are similar to the plants/tubers seen in pictures 3,4 and 5. Picture 1 and 2 shows the flowers on a planted specimen and is not the plant for sale.
