A big species Canna growing to 2 meters, native to sub tropical forests in South America and the Caribbean, at altitudes up to 2000 m. pseudo stems form from an underground rhizome with green, oval-shaped banana like leaves. The terminal inflorescence appears at the end of summer with small orange-red funnel shaped flowers, which are followed by round, hairy yellow fruits. A great ornamental that brings a tropical feel to any garden or patio. Sadly not hardy and must be lifted after the first frosts and stored in damp coir in a frost free, cool place.
