Echinocereus reichenbachii

Echinocereus reichenbachii is a slowly branching cylindrical shaped cactus, with strong small curved spines. Flowers are purple with a dark centre and are slightly fragrant. This is a near hardy species of cactus but must be kept dry in winter to avoid rot. Best grown in shallow pots and given winter protection in a greenhouse or planted out and given protection of a temporary clear roof. Reported to be hardy to -10℃
