Opuntia humifusa ‘ Hardy Prickly Pear Cactus’
Supplied in a 9cm pot

Extremely hardy cactus from Eastern North America. Forms spreading clumps of fleshy green leaves or pads that are lightly spined. Stunning large frilly yellow flowers in summer, followed by reddish fruits, which are unfortunately inedible.
This is probably the hardiest of all the opuntia and has survived uk winters outside here at Blue Nurseries for several years. We have even found a O.humifusa pad that had fallen off a plant and landed in water and then survived a freezing winter!

Plants are supplied in their 9cm pots and compost. (recently potted up) The plants seen in pictures 4 and 5 are similar to the plants for sale. Pictures 1, 2 and 3 show the flowers to expect on a mature specimen and are not the plants for sale.
